Bridgelux Releases the World's First "Most Comfortable" LED Light Source for Human Perception

On October 28, 2014, Bridgelux, a globally leading developer and manufacturer of LED lighting technology and solutions, will release its new Vero Décor series Class A Chip-on-Board (CoB) LED array light source (hereinafter referred to as: Class A array light source) during the 2014 Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), with global public sales beginning in mid-November.
The Class A array light source is another successful practice of Bridgelux's commitment to creating higher-quality, "human-centric" light sources. While using the CRI (Color Rendering Index), the product innovatively introduces the new Gamut Area Index (GAI) as a standard for measuring light source quality. The GAI standard is set based on the pattern by which the human brain perceives light sources, and can more accurately describe the light and colors perceived by the human brain, reflecting the overall effect of the light source and people's subjective perception of the light source's colors. The use of the dual CRI and GAI standards allows the Class A array light source to achieve a perfect balance between the two standards, making it the "most comfortable" light for human perception. This product achieves the optimal balance between light quality and consumers' emotional reception, and its "human-centric" characteristics can help partners' products stand out among competitors, achieving a higher return on investment.
The world's first LED chip using the Gamut Area Index (GAI) as the light source standard
Traditionally, the lighting industry has used the conventional CRI (Color Rendering Index) as the standard for measuring light source quality. However, CRI only measures the color rendering properties of a light source and is not directly related to human visual perception. Since 2002, the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with the support of the Alliance for Solid-State Illumination Systems and Technologies (ASSIST), has been conducting in-depth research on the color quality of light sources, and ultimately succeeded in inventing Class A Color. Through long-term research, scientists have successfully unraveled the principles by which the human brain perceives white light. Based on how the human brain judges the "best color rendering" white light source according to color and tone, LRC and ASSIST jointly developed and released the Class A Color spectrum, redefining high-quality light source color based on human perception. With a broader spectrum and higher saturation, Class A Color performs excellently in brightness and naturalness, capable of outlining the "whitest" white light within the range that people find comfortable.
Jean Paul Freyssinier, senior researcher at the Lighting Research Center (LRC), noted: "We used a very comprehensive sample set (including samples from Asian regions) to test the Class A Color spectrum, adjusting its spectrum multiple times to ensure that the combination of its tonal naturalness and brightness is pleasing. 75% of test subjects indicated that light sources with Class A Color offer the best color rendering and saturation, providing consistent illumination that never disappoints."
Bridgelux's research scientists and engineers have used the Class A Color spectrum as a template for developing new products, creating Bridgelux's brand-new product series — the Vero Décor Class A Chip-on-Board (CoB) LED array light source, the world's first commercial product to use this standard.

The Class A LED array light source not only delivers light source performance far superior to that of traditional halogen lamps and ceramic metal halide lamps, but also saves 30% in energy consumption, reduces heat by 70%, and offers an effective illumination time 20 times higher than traditional lighting products.
Bridgelux Class A LED array light source products are available in two specifications—4000K and 3000K color temperatures—and can be applied to lighting solutions in high-end retail, hospitality, museums, and commercial sectors. This will significantly boost customer traffic for merchants, drive customer purchases, and effectively increase profit per square meter.
