Luming's Multiple "Silicate Phosphor" Patents Break Through White LED Patent Barriers

Recently, a reporter learned from the official website of Dalian Luming that multiple "silicate phosphor" patents of Luming have successfully been authorized in several countries, breaking through white LED patent barriers.

Since the advent of white LEDs, cerium-ion-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) and terbium aluminum garnet (TAG) have been internationally used as light-conversion phosphor materials for semiconductor lighting. The patent rights of these two materials are owned by Japan and Germany respectively, restricting both the export of China's LED products and the development of its industry. To break the foreign patent monopoly, after years of technical research, Luming Company doped rare earth ions as activators in a silicate system, and for the first time invented and realized a single-material spectral phosphor material applicable to white LEDs. This material features high crystal optical transparency, near-spherical microscopic morphology, strong physical and chemical stability, continuously adjustable emission wavelength in the 450-610nm range, and high light conversion efficiency, making it suitable for matching with multi-band UV or blue-light chips. Within the same material system, a full-color spectral distribution in the visible light region has been achieved, making it suitable for producing various color temperatures and multi-color white LEDs or colored LEDs from a single system, with a simulated color gamut of up to 87%, providing richer colors.

Luming's series of "silicate phosphor" patents have successfully obtained Chinese invention patent authorization, and have applied for patents in the United States, Europe, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong (China), and Taiwan through PCT. Currently, authorization has been obtained in the United States, Europe, and Taiwan (China). The authorization of this series of patents will form a comprehensive international patent protection system, break through international patent blockades and monopolies, provide patent support for China's LED products to enter the international market, and enhance the international competitiveness of China's semiconductor lighting industry.
