US Department of Energy Plans to Revise LED Bulb Energy Testing Procedures; LED Export Interests Under Scrutiny

　　According to the Ningbo Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently proposed a new energy testing procedure for light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs, and relevant Chinese stakeholders should attach importance to responding.

　　It is understood that the proposal specifies methods for measuring lumen output, output power, and relative spectrum to determine the correlated color temperature. The rule also proposes a method for calculating the lifespan of LED bulbs, defining the lifespan of LED bulbs as the length of time during which the lumen output is maintained at 70%, and adds methods for calculating the efficacy and color rendering index of LED bulbs.

　　The U.S. Department of Energy also recently issued a supplementary notice revising the definition of "lifespan" to better align it with the statutory definition in the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975. The DOE proposed a new definition of "failure time" to support the revised definition of "lifespan." Stakeholders may submit relevant comments, data, and information before August 4.
