Shantou adopts LED street lighting on main road Daxue Road for the first time

　　A reporter learned from relevant Shantou, Guangdong departments that the city took advantage of the Daxue Road renovation to change all 619 originally designed high-pressure sodium lamps and 72 floodlights along the entire route to LED fixtures. This is also the first road in Shantou to use LED street lighting on a main road.

　　The 3 streetlight transformers within the scope of Phase 1 of the National Highway 206 Daxue Road renovation project have all been upgraded, and the municipal power supply has been connected. The streetlights on the right side of the section from Puping Junction to Shantou University Mental Health Center toward Jieyang have entered normal nighttime illumination. The Shantou Highway Bureau will accelerate the project schedule to ensure that the streetlights on both sides of this section are powered on before the end of June, and complete the single-side lighting project within the scope of Phase 1 in the shortest possible time to ensure safe nighttime traffic.

　　It is reported that the total length of Daxue Road is 11.2 kilometers. It is an important transportation route in Shantou, leading to Chaoshan International Airport, connecting surrounding cities in the west, and reaching Shantou University. After installation, it will generate energy-saving benefits through reduced light source power, reduced line losses, and reduced transformer losses, with corresponding reductions in operation, maintenance, and management costs.
