Bridgelux and Martini to provide LED lighting for Italian co-op chain supermarkets

Co-op supermarkets, a membership-based retailer, can be found in every major and medium-sized city in Italy. Recently, co-op supermarkets along the Italian Adriatic coast installed Virgola GM and GEX GM fixtures from Martini Lighting, which use Bridgelux LED arrays. The 21W LED fixtures save more than 80% energy compared to the 80-110W halogen lamps they replaced, while also reducing heat emission and eliminating UV radiation that accelerates food spoilage.

Bridgelux, a developer and manufacturer of lighting technologies and solutions, has partnered with Martini Lighting to provide LED arrays with ultra-high color rendering index. These LED arrays are designed for ultra-high brightness solid-state lighting, suitable for retail, hospitality, museum, and high-end architectural lighting.

Ing Mingozzi, consultant at Ricerca & Progetto, the design firm responsible for the co-op supermarket renovation, said: "Our task was to update the design of the supermarket's fresh food section. When we recommended a solid-state lighting solution to the co-op supermarket, they found that this solution could not only provide better overall design, but also significantly improve energy efficiency. So we decided to develop an LED-based lighting solution that not only aligns with co-op supermarket's values of environmental sustainability, but also improves the consumer shopping experience in-store."

A notable feature of Bridgelux's LED arrays is a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 97, equipped with a 3-step MacAdam ellipse color binning, delivering a wide range of color control options. The Décor line features outstanding performance with a power range of 25~50W and a lumen range of 1200~2500, where R9 and R15 enhance the rendering and accurate display of reds and skin tones.
