Notice on the Selection of the 2026 Fudan University Electric Light Source Institute Lighting R&D Innovation Award
Fudan Alumni, Fudan Faculty and Staff, Fudan Students:
"At the outset of the 15th Five-Year Plan, the 'Suggestions of the CPC Central Committee on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development' clearly designate 'accelerating high-level technological self-reliance and self-strengthening' as a core task. The document mentions 'technology' 46 times and emphasizes 'innovation' 61 times, placing technological innovation and the cultivation of new quality productive forces at the heart of national development. In the light industry sector, the 'Work Plan for Stabilizing Light Industry Growth (2025–2026)' further focuses on the lighting industry, proposing specific requirements such as accelerating the formulation of technology innovation roadmaps, strengthening green low-carbon and digital standard supply, and cultivating intelligent health products, thereby driving the industry to transition from scale expansion to value creation.
The Fudan University Electric Light Source Institute Lighting Rui Chuang Award was established to respond to the national innovation strategy, recognize the technological innovation achievements of Fudan people in the lighting industry, and inherit the spirit of the Fudan light source discipline. Under the policy tailwinds of perfecting the carbon market in the '15th Five-Year Plan', upgrading new infrastructure, and expanding new scenarios, this selection will focus on four dimensions of innovation: technology, products, standards, and models. It aims to uncover core technological breakthroughs and scenario innovation models within the Fudan circle, build a platform for docking industry, academia, research, and application, and help transform policy orientations such as 'energy saving + carbon revenue' and 'smart integration' into industrial effectiveness. This not only highlights the value of Fudan's academic inheritance and industrial empowerment but also provides a practical sample for the industry to implement high-quality development requirements.
The 2026 Fudan University Electric Light Source Institute Lighting R&D Innovation Award selection is officially launched. We cordially invite all relevant entities to actively participate in the application and jointly build the Fudan lighting innovation ecosystem.

2. Fudan University students;
3. Fudan University faculty and staff (including retirees);
Description:
1. Applicants must be core innovators and primary owners of intellectual property (such as principal inventors of patents, principal copyright holders of software copyrights, etc.), operating in the lighting and related cross-border fields, possessing clear innovative achievements and industry contributions.
2. The initial call for submissions is limited to individuals from Fudan University; later, it will gradually open to all qualified lighting and related professionals.
(II) Selection Content
Focusing on the applicant's innovative capabilities, industry contributions, and social value demonstrated through submitted innovative achievements, centered on four key directions:
1. Technological Innovation: Lead breakthroughs in core technologies, innovations in key processes, or applications of new materials, aligning with the national direction for tackling critical core technologies;
2. Technology Transfer: Innovation outcomes (including physical products and non-physical digital outcomes) that, after industrialization or engineering implementation, demonstrate clear scenario adaptability, market application value, and user experience advantages.
3. Industry Leadership: Promote industry technological upgrades, standard improvements, or green and low-carbon transformation, with demonstrable value for promotion;
4.跨界融合:在照明与数字技术、健康医疗、智慧建筑、特种光源等领域开展创新实践,成果兼具节能减排、民生改善等综合社会效益。
(3) Declaration Requirements
1. Applicants must submit the '2026 Fudan University Electric Light Source Institute Lighting R&D Innovation Award Application Form' (click here to download in the Application Method section) and relevant supporting materials (including personal qualification certificates, product technical reports, product manuals, patent certificates, test reports, application cases, Fudan identity proof, result evaluation authorization letters, etc.); Please provide all result-related materials completely and in accordance with the checklist. If key information is missing or materials do not meet requirements, the corresponding evaluation dimension will be scored at the lowest level.
2. The innovative achievements led by the applicant must be original R&D, free of intellectual property disputes, and show significant innovation differences from publicly available technologies and mass-produced products;
3. The innovation results submitted in this call must have been completed between January 1, 2020, and the deadline of this call.
4. Each applicant may submit up to 2 core achievements for review annually. Achievement types include physical products and non-physical achievements, and previously awarded achievements are no longer eligible for review.
5. Winners may only be awarded based on one core achievement; the achievement with the highest score from the expert panel shall serve as the basis for their award.
6. The organizing committee shall have non-commercial usage rights, including exhibition and publicity rights, over all publicly available information of the award-winning works; individual applicants are deemed to accept this agreement by default.
7. Application materials will not be returned; please retain a backup copy yourself.
Four Review Dimensions
Based on the evaluation criteria, conduct a quantitative assessment across four dimensions:
1. Degree of technological innovation (weight 30%): Originality and differentiation of core achievements (core technology breakthroughs, core design concepts, key process innovations, application of new materials, etc.); quantitative data support showing that technical indicators (e.g., efficiency improvement, energy consumption reduction, etc.) exceed industry standards;
2. Value of Practical Results (Weight 30%): Scale of implementation and application of results (number of cases, coverage scope), user satisfaction, industrialization capability and direct economic benefits (sales revenue, profit margin), effectiveness of university innovation transformation (number of school-enterprise cooperation transformation projects, technology licensing/transfer revenue, implementation status of joint research and development achievements between industry, academia and research, etc.);
3. Industry Leadership (Weight: 20%): Technical influence within the industry, involvement in formulating national/international/industry/group standards (leading or participating), and the actual impact of technology promotion on industry transformation;
4. Contribution of Integrated Value (Weight 20%): The depth of implementation of cross-boundary innovation practices (such as Lighting + Digital Technology, Lighting + Healthcare, Lighting + AI technology), and the quantified performance of comprehensive social benefits in areas such as ecological protection, sustainable social development, and health and well-being.
