The 2017 China International Luminaire Design Competition Award Ceremony was grandly held in Guzhen

On the evening of October 30, 2017, the award ceremony for the 2017 China International Luminaire Design Competition was grandly held at the Guzhen Sports Center in Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City. Over a thousand representatives from government agencies, manufacturing enterprises, and award-winning units attended the ceremony together to witness the achievements of the design competition.

This edition of the Luminaire Design Competition received a total of 770 entries from lighting enterprises and design institutions. After rigorous and meticulous comprehensive evaluation by seven industry authority experts (Liu Shengping, Vice Chairman of CALI / China Association of Lighting Industry; Prof. Hao Luoxi, School of Architecture and Urban Planning, Tongji University; Assoc. Prof. Tang Lintao, Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University; Prof. Lin Hong, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts; Assoc. Prof. Yu Fan, School of Design, Jiangnan University; Dr. Zhuang Xiaobo, National Luminaire Quality Supervision and Inspection Center; and Lin Huizhen, Zhongshan Decorative Lighting Intellectual Property Rapid Protection Center), a total of 47 winning works were selected across two categories: Physical Category (Functional/Technical, Home Decorative, and Engineering Decorative) and Creative Category.

At the awards ceremony, speeches were delivered by Chen Yansheng, Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), and Liu Jianhui, Party Secretary of Guzhen Town, Zhongshan City. During his speech, Chairman Chen outlined the basic situation of this year's design competition and expressed expectations for its future development. He hoped that today's winners would cherish their honor, strive for further success, and achieve brilliance again next year; while those who did not win should accumulate energy, endure hardship, and make a comeback next year.

During the award ceremony, first Liu Shengping, Vice Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), presented awards for Outstanding Organization and Outstanding Creativity to the winners; Xie Shengjun, Executive Vice President of Feilo Acoustics (a member unit of CALI), and Su Yushan, Deputy Secretary of the Guzhen Town Party Committee, jointly presented certificates and medals to the third-prize winners in the Functional Technology category; Wang Haibo, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CALI and Director of the Electric Light Source Materials Institute at Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications, along with Hong Xiaosong, Vice President of NVC Group (a member unit of CALI), jointly presented certificates and medals to the third-prize winners in the Home Decoration category; Lu Zhenjian, Member of the Guzhen Town Party Committee, presented certificates to sponsoring enterprises including NVC; Du Guohong, General Manager of Hengdian Depang (a member unit of CALI), and the Chairman of the Guzhen Town People's Congress jointly presented certificates and medals to the second-prize winners in the Functional Technology category; Zhang Linfu, Vice Chairman of CALI and Chairman of Yuzhong High-Beam, and Kuang Zhi, Mayor of Guzhen Town, jointly presented certificates and medals to the second-prize winners in the Home Decoration category.

Among the three grand prizes, Zhang Chonghe, President of the China Light Industry Federation, presented certificates and medals to Jinda Lighting for the first prize in Engineering Decoration category "Jinnah Tomb Chandelier"; Chen Yansheng, Chairman of the China Association of Lighting Industry (CALI), presented certificates and medals to Dunge Electronics for the first prize in Functional Technology category "LED Bar Light"; Liu Jianhui, Vice Chairman of CALI and Party Secretary of Guzhen Town, presented certificates and medals to Xinteli for the first prize in Home Decoration category "Jazz Series".

The award ceremony also featured wonderful song and dance performances, creating a lively atmosphere on site.

The China International Lighting Fixture Design Competition has successfully held six editions. It is widely recognized by lighting enterprises and academic institutions, has become a regular event with considerable notoriety in the industry, and has played a positive role in promoting the development of original design for Chinese luminaire products. The competition aims to create a platform for industry talent to showcase their abilities, enhance China's independent innovation capability in luminaire design, and cultivate international brands for Chinese lighting fixture product design. We also hope that more dedicated professionals in the industry will emerge and display their talents, achieving outstanding results in future luminaire competitions!
