Philips to replace 91,000 street lights in Buenos Aires with new LED bulbs

Philips will replace 91,000 street lights in Buenos Aires with new LED bulbs. Once deployed, managers will be able to use a management platform called CityTouch to control the on/off status of these street lights via a web browser over the network and view their usage data.

It is reported that Buenos Aires plans to complete the entire deployment plan in 2016.

Philips says this is currently the largest city deployment plan of its kind, because the 91,000 street lights already account for more than 70% of the city's lighting facilities, truly achieving "a click of the mouse and the entire city is lit up". Currently, only 2,000 LED lights have been deployed.

　　In the Philips CityTouch system, users can view detailed information of all street lights on a city map, including the model and operating status of each individual light. Through simple mouse-based selection, managers can perform various operations such as turning the city lights on, dimming them, or turning them off, thereby achieving precise lighting as needed and optimizing lighting functions such as crime prevention and energy efficiency.

　　The energy consumption brought by nighttime lighting is absolutely not to be ignored. Through this brand-new system, Buenos Aires is expected to achieve energy savings of up to 50%. In addition, LED lights are brighter and last longer than traditional street lights.
