Singapore carries out LED lighting replacement, aiming to be the first to enter the LED era

　　Starting this month, street lights on 500 streets in Singapore will be gradually replaced with LED lighting fixtures, with a total of approximately 4,000 units. The entire replacement project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018. This street light replacement project is mainly distributed on streets with low traffic flow and some residential area streets. The wattage of the lighting fixtures used on these roads is relatively low (between 70 and 150 watts). The replacement project will replace the original high-pressure sodium vapor lamps, whose lifespan is approaching its limit, with LED fixtures that can save more than 30% energy.

　　Prior to this lighting replacement project, Singapore's transport department had conducted a three-year LED lighting test on Northumberland Road and Tekka Lane, testing a total of 17 street lights. The Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA) is currently actively attempting to adopt high-wattage LED street lights (above 250 watts) on main traffic roads and highways. Since last August, the LTA has been testing the energy efficiency, lifespan and stability of high-wattage LED street lights on Lorong1ToaPayoh, and the test is expected to be completed in 2016.
