Osram Partners with Schools Affected by Ya'an Earthquake, Caring for Students' Growth
'We are delighted to return to this place and personally experience the changes in Ya'an and the growth of the children. Children are the hope of the future. Their growth requires not only material support, but also our continued spiritual care and emotional nurturing, so that they can develop more healthily and comprehensively,' said Ai Xiaoming, CEO of Osram (China) Lighting Co., Ltd. 'For more than a hundred years, Osram has not only been committed to innovation in the field of lighting, but also actively practices corporate social responsibility, giving back to society and nature through concrete actions, illuminating people's lives with light and lighting up everyone's dreams.'

Ya'an City and Osram have always shared an inextricable bond. As early as 2007, Osram signed a cooperation agreement with the Wolong Panda Club, sponsoring three giant pandas — Ou Ou, Si Si, and Lang Lang — for life. After the Ya'an earthquake in 2013, Osram employees once again voluntarily donated funds to establish the 'Osram Scholarship' at Luyang Primary School, putting their caring hearts into practice.
One year later, OSRAM employee representatives returned to Ya'an once again. Coinciding with the closing ceremony of Luyang Elementary School, they personally awarded scholarships to 160 students who excel in both character and academics, as well as those in need. They interacted warmly with the children, bringing the care and protection of all OSRAM people to the children. Through their limited efforts, they hope to bring a ray of "light" to the children in the disaster area, dispelling the gloom of having lost their homes and loved ones, and illuminating the dreams in their hearts.

Learning that many children, although growing up in the hometown of pandas, had never been in close contact with giant pandas, OSRAM specially arranged a giant panda trip to Bifengxia in Ya'an after the scholarship award ceremony. Professor Tang Chunxiang from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda also gave the children a vivid lesson on the habits, breeding, and scientific research of giant pandas. He stated, "The giant panda is China's national treasure and the pride of us Ya'an locals. From the children's interaction with the giant pandas, we can deeply feel their love for the pandas and their yearning to be close to nature. We hope there can be more similar activities to cultivate children's awareness of protecting animals and caring for nature from an early age. We also hope that more and more people will join the ranks of protecting giant pandas."

Xu Hong, Principal of Luyang Elementary School, stated: "We are very grateful to socially responsible enterprises like OSRAM and people from all walks of life for their attention and support for the development of our school's education. What they bring to the children is not only material assistance, but also opportunities to be exposed to more new things, helping them broaden their horizons, enrich their life experiences, and thereby inspiring them to more confidently pursue and realize their dreams on the road ahead. Ya'an is the hometown of the national treasure, the panda. This event has allowed the children to gain a deeper understanding of their hometown, strengthening their sense of pride as Ya'an locals and their awareness of protecting their ecological homeland."
