Now in China, many cities and towns are undergoing the replacement of the HID luminaires with LED, which is more efficient and energy-saving. In this way, the energy cost and consumption can be lowered. What is your opinion regarding such change? Could you share with us a similar case from Schreder?
Answer: The switch from HID to LED technology is happening and will not be stopped. Beyond any doubt, LED technology is the future of the lighting industry. LEDs have numerous advantages: lower energy consumption, meaning lower costs and lower CO2 emissions, as you mention. But they also bring the lighting industry into the era of electronics – with all the possibilities that encompasses, such as control systems and interactivity.
At Schréder, the proportion of LED sales in our total turnover is doubling every year. Worldwide, we see that country by country, all markets are switching massively to LED technology. Schréder is at the forefront of this new era.
从HID到LED技术的转变正在此时此刻发生着，并且势不可挡。毋庸置疑的是，LED 技术是照明行业的未来，这一技术有诸多优势，如更低的能耗所带来的更低成本以及二氧化碳排放。它将照明行业带入一个电子时代，并在控制以及交互方面创造多种可能性。

3、在路灯领域，现在比较热门的是智能路灯、智慧城市这个话题，通过智能路灯的构建推进智能城市的发展，解决城市基础设施建设过程中所出现的一些问题，比如，路灯上连接WIFI网络，或者除照明外，让路灯具备感知天气、噪声、车流等信息以及数据采集、监控等多项功能，贵公司是否也有相应的开发计划？您对智能路灯怎么看？
In road lighting segment, the smart road lighting and smart city are very popular topics. The application of smart road lighting is a way to boost the development of smart city with respects to detection and collection of climate and noise data, the traffic status, and realization of the monitoring of the environment, etc. how do you see the smart road lighting concept? Does Schreder have the similar product/solution?
Answer: Indeed, smart city is a very popular topic nowadays. Smart city conferences are being organized throughout the world. But what does it really mean?
As a lighting solution provider, I believe Schréder has a key role to play in the so-called smart cities of tomorrow: thanks to the presence of lighting points located throughout the city, these points form a unique network to exploit by city authorities. Lighting points can be used to register environmental data for example, to guide users of the urban space in case of an emergency situation, to provide security features such as cameras or loudspeakers… The possibilities are unlimited.

Now the competition in China lighting industry becomes more and more fierce. A lot of merging and buying-out occurred last year. And there’s an undeniable price war for luminaire. How do you see the future of the lighting industry? Does Schreder confront some difficulty as well? How does Schreder cope with the difficult situation? And what is your plan for the future development?
Answer: The Chinese lighting industry is very competitive indeed. However we face similar situations in other markets as well.
Schréder’s answer to these situations is to keep evolving, in order to respond to the customer’s needs while continuously seeking increased efficiencies. Next to the continuous search for more efficiency, we want to be the partner of choice for your lighting solutions: we want to work together with our customers to achieve the best total solution for their projects, responding to their specific requirements. I am convinced this is a real added value for our customers.
